Tokenomics change - online poll #1

Hi there!

VOTE HERE: Tokenomics vote

The current idea is:

  • If there is a clear winner, it goes directly to temperature check
  • If there isn’t a very clear winner, we’ll hold another vote with the top two as only options, and the winner (by whatever margin) goes on to a temperature check

This is poll#1, we’ll see if we’ll need another.

With the current smart contract, the options for taxes are symmetrical only, except for disabling buy or sell tax. What this means is that we can have 0-7, like now, or 7-7, but we cannot have 1-5 or 5-1 or anything similar.
This means that in the poll, there will be ONLY ONE NUMBER LISTED, representing BOTH buy and sell tax.
So, if a voting option is “3”, that means: 3% buy tax, 3% sell tax, no redistribution, 100% to SLP.

Why no redistribution? This is simple. Redistribution was nice before we had utility up and running, but now it would be more important to make the SLP as big as possible, as that’s where we’ll see the bigger money.

.
Common arguments for certain values:

  • No change, leave everything as is: Easy, no complication, redistribution stays, but the SLP -and hence staking rewards- remain low
  • 2: This means a total of 4% tax for buying and selling, and we expect staking to cover this in about a year maximum. For longer term holders, a 2% buy tax should be covered pretty quickly by staking (in a few months).
  • 3: This option is popular, because it represents a 50% increase into SLP, while still being quite small
  • 3.5: This is the current tax, just split between buys and sells, and all of it goes into SLP. Also, a slippage of 4 would work on decentralised exchanges.
  • 4: Still higher, but still below 5, which is somewhat of a psychological barrier
  • 5: This option is popular, as the biggest possible number that won’t scare away too many investors, but would end up with the fastest growth of the SLP

Please consider your position carefully, as it is a delicate balance. We want the SLP to be as big as possible, because the bigger the SLP, the more loans and businesses we can do with it, better the returns from staking.

Voted for two options: 3 and 3.5 :+1:t2: Also open to 2-2 but wanted to mark 3 or 3.5 as a slight preference

Voted for 3.5, I like keeping the total tax the same but still being able to bring in some SLP funds from the buy side

I’m all for the redistributions going to SLP! Voted for 3 and 3.5! Don’t mind if it’s lower but that was my votes.

I voted for the 3.5 tax, redistribution straight to the pool. Keeping the tax the same at 7%. I am always a fan of starting small, then increasing if need be.
